Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Students to benefit from CQUni's refocus on tourism 

CQUniversity will offer two new degrees in tourism to help students develop careers and tap into key tourism regions of Queensland and beyond.

Both the new Bachelor of Tourism degree and the Bachelor of Business with a Tourism Major will offer a range of courses, giving students the opportunity to develop a broad set of skills relating to the modern tourism environment.

Graduates can expect employment opportunities in the convention and exhibition sector, event management, hotel and resort management, food and beverage management, theme park management, destination management, eco-tourism management, visitor attractions, travel and tourism marketing and other areas.

Tourism will be available at Mackay and Noosa campuses, as well as by distance education. Details on the new degrees will be available soon via http://www.cqu.edu.au/ .
