Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    A new CQU study has identified the best combination of equipment to generate electricity from coal seam methane drained from coal mines in the Bowen Basin.

    Supervisor Mohammad Rasul and undergraduate student John Brown have produced a paper explaining how they matched the commercially available equipment to the gas flow conditions.

    Eighteen Indigenous prisoners at Australian correctional centres are getting a second chance at education and lifestyle through a Central Queensland University program.

    CQU's Tertiary Entry Program (TEP), coordinated by the University's Nulloo Yumbah centre*, is making a difference in the lives of Indigenous Australians who have chosen the wrong path at some stage and found themselves in the prison system.
