- Classical music stars fly in for free concerts

World-class performers will fly in from overseas for free concerts in Mackay and Rockhampton (November 1 and 2) and members of the public are welcome to attend.
Canadian violinist Jasper Wood and American pianist Bradley Blackham will perform in the events designed to welcome Dr Kevin Purcell as the new Professor and Director of Music & Performing Arts at Central Queensland University.

New mother and CQU researcher Dr Susan Kinnear has won the 'Young Achiever Department of Main Roads Environment Award' during the Queensland Young Achievers Awards.
The awards were announced on Saturday night (September 22) at the Gold Coast's Crown Plaza Royal Pines Resort.

In the lead up to the Federal election when industrial relations is the key debate, the city of Rockhampton has featured in a timely, new historical book that looks at the early labour movement in Australia.
Central Queensland University historian Dr Barbara Webster contributed a chapter on Rockhampton's early Labour Day organisation and celebrations in the recently launched book The Time of their Lives: The Eight Hour Day and Working Life.

A French university student is researching the effect of predator control measures on shorebirds around Bundaberg as part of an internship with CQU's Centre for Environmental Management (CEM).
This study is part of the Feathering the Future of the Burnett Mary Shorebirds project which has been funded by the Burnett Mary Regional Group for Natural Resource Management Inc (BMRG).
- Noosa now prime venue for nursing assessments

CQU Noosa Hub has been identified as a prime venue for learning support workshops hosted by the Competence Assessment Service (CAS), which is the sole return-to-practice education program endorsed by the Queensland Nursing Council.
CQU operates the Competency Assessment Service (CAS) in partnership with Central Queensland Institute of TAFE.
- 40 international students farewell Rocky

About 40 CQU international students attended a going home ceremony in Rockhampton on Wednesday October 3.
Students involved in the ceremony have come from the UK, Japan, India, Taiwan, Korea, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Kenya, Canada and Ireland.
