Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Students sample several campuses in one night

    Prospective students will be able to 'attend' presentations by academics from several campuses on one evening, thanks to CQUniversity's videoconference network.

    Flagship undergraduate programs available at Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Gladstone and Mackay will be discussed by academics from the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education.

    CQUniversity is attempting to contact Rockhampton residents who took part in a 2001 survey on physical activity and neighbourhood design to reassess their perceptions.

    Lead by CQUniversity researcher Dr Mitch Duncan and funded by the National Heart Foundation, the project hopes to reassess people's physical activity levels and perceptions of the environment.
