Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Coming from the Russian Federation to study in Australia, Nadezda Golik has followed in her older sister's footsteps to become a Campus Director's Award winner at CQUniversity Sydney.

    Known around campus as 'Nadia', Nadezda recently graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting in September's ceremony and found the process a fulfilling one.

    Forty-five STEPS students had reason to celebrate this week (October 8) at CQUniversity Mackay as they graced the stage for a celebration of completion ceremony.

    Around 200 guests were present to support the success of their family and friends who successfully completed the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) program during 2008.

    Info systems research in running for award in Paris

    Information systems research by CQUniversity's David Jones and former staff member Professor Shirley Gregor (now at ANU) is under consideration for a major award to be announced in Paris in December.

    The research is outlined in a paper - 'The Anatomy of a Design Theory' - published in the top-ranking Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS).
