Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

New doctoral program for business researchers 

The Doctor of Business Research has been approved by Academic Board and new students can start from March this year.

The program of study and research has been designed for those who as part of their career development are engaged in applied business research and for those research professionals who wish to support their development with doctoral study.

It is available in the full-time or part-time mode, on-campus or external and will suit those who need to stay at work and study at home near their family.

The program consists of courses in advanced research theory methods and three supervised practical business research studies one of which could be a published refereed journal article.

Meanwhile, The Faculty of Business and Law currently has a record number of research students with 22 doctoral candidates, eight Masters level candidates and four Honours students. More than nine applications for the Honours program are being processed.

Twelve Principal Supervisors, including Christine Murphy, David Gadenne, Gayle Jennings, Harvey Griggs, Tony Ward, John Rolfe, Paul Hyland, Peter Smith, John Jackson, Robert Kelso, Richard Whitwell and Les Killion are busy supervising research into topics in management, commerce and marketing and tourism.
