Most desirable graduate attributes identified

The term 'Graduate Attributes' refers to the set of qualities and skills that a university defines as core outcomes for its students.

These provide a foundation for students' employability as well as underlying the development of their human capabilities.

Graduate Attributes are skills that employers tell us that they need in the workplace - these qualities frequently become a formal part of new staff recruitment processes.

These desirable attributes include the ability to work effectively in teams, being able to communicate with people from a range of cultures, being ethical and being able to solve problems.

CQUniversity's desired Graduate Attributes complement students' discipline-specific skills. This ensures that CQUniversity graduates are flexible, aware and ethical individuals who are well prepared for the global job market.

The integration of these Graduate Attributes will begin with undergraduate courses in 2010, guided by the University's Learning and Teaching philosophy to "help students on their learning journey achieve their goals by providing an appropriate learning environment and access to personalised support to meet their needs."
