Best of both worlds for Gladstone student heading for Germany

CQU Gladstone student James Keane will be taking off for Germany in August as part of the University's exchange program.

It'll be the best of both worlds - study and travel - for the Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship) student, showing it's possible to mix the two.

Mr Keane has been offered a scholarship from the International School of Management (ISM) Dortmund to study in Germany for 4 months.

This scholarship will cover his accommodation and living expenses. He will also receive a bursary from CQU that will cover his travel expenses.

Mr Keane will be exempt from expensive international fees at his host institution because ISM Dortmund is one of CQU's exchange partners.

Instead, he will remain enrolled at CQU and pay his normal student contributions while he is away and be able to apply for credit for the courses he has completed against his degree.

His CQU degree is not put on hold but given an exciting, international flavour that will be recognised and appreciated by his future employers.

"I started talking to Kay Wolfs (of CQU) about possibly studying somewhere in Europe when she informed me of this Scholarship," Mr Keane said.

He will undertake 6 courses at ISM including, Project Management, Operations Management, Strategic Market-Oriented Management, International Business Law, Leading to High Performance and Competitive Advantage; all of these courses are taught in English.

Mr Keane also has the amazing opportunity to learn about German culture by studying a ‘German Intensive Learning Course'.

He will not only be taught the language but will also be involved in excursions and activities to further develop his understanding of his host country.
