Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Army, Navy and fair voice on campus 

Young singer Shannae Sclippa had the chance to perform alongside some of the world's most tightly drilled professional musicians on Rockhampton Campus and at Mount Morgan's Central State School this week.

The student who comes from Dimbulah on the Tablelands near Cairns, featured in a Bachelor of Music combo on the same program as the visiting 1RAR Band (Townsville) and the 7th Fleet Band (U.S. Navy).

Shannae earlier this month had the chance to workshop with world renowned composer and performer Bruce Brown and has been involved in public gigs at the Glenmore Tavern and Gladstone's waterside park.
