Citation for Lew Brennan - Companion of the University

Cr Brennan is currently a Councillor on the newly established Sunshine Coast Regional Council and has a reputation for championing education and knowledge industries for the Noosa Shire.

The establishment of CQU Noosa and its ground-breaking Bachelor of Learning Management program came to fruition through the foresight of Cr Brennan, who considered education the cornerstone of its community's ongoing development.

Cr Brennan, together with others, saw the potential for a teacher education facility on the Sunshine Coast and lobbied the government at all levels by facilitating meetings and participating in key debates, continually pushing the agenda forward for CQU and the BLM. Furthermore, numerous letters were written to various agencies espousing the merits of the establishment and ongoing development of both CQU Noosa and the BLM.

Having served on the initial CQU Noosa Steering Committee for 5 years, Cr Brennan provided vision and insight into this venture. As a result of his drive, commitment and belief in this project over a long period of time, CQU is now seen as an innovative provider of quality higher education on the Sunshine Coast.

Seeing the value of the BLM, Cr Brennan completed a Master of Learning Management in 2006 on a topic associated with the development on the BLM. In addition to this, he published a chapter on the BLM experience, contributing to the knowledge associated with partnership and teacher education.
