WIST workshop a sharing experience

Twelve women wanting to improve their career prospects by returning to study attended an information session on Thursday, April 6 at CQU Rockhampton.

Participants travelled from Bauhinia Downs, Mt Morgan, Gladstone, Yeppoon and Coorooman.

PhotoID:2944 Those who attended the session spoke to current students undertaking the Women into Science and Technology (WIST) bridging program at CQU.

WIST coordinator Robyn Donovan said the women enjoyed the opportunity to meet each other, and to share their experiences of studying.

She said the participants are looking forward to enrolling in courses including Science, Nursing, Business, and Health Sciences after they complete the WIST bridging program.

Since 1989, over 4500 women have undertaken WIST, which provides a second chance for university enrolment.

Ms Donovan said: "The program provides women with a self-paced study at home option which enables them to apply for a Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) ranking. The WIST program is designed to fit in with women’s family, work and other responsibilities".

Details about WIST are available on 4930 9341 or email wist@cqu.edu.au .
