Mackay pre-schoolers Meet the Orchestra at CQCM

The Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music is this week presenting a series of concerts called \'Meet the Orchestra\' designed especially for pre-school and early childhood students.

PhotoID:1442 CQU lecturer Robert Keane has written the programme for an ensemble of Bachelor of Music students.

Dr Keane describes the concerts as “a wonderful way to introduce young children to a variety of musical instruments and allow them to experience the joy of music through a live and very lively performance. We have the Twinkle Kwartet, the Woodwind Wizard, the Duelling Saxophones, the Brass Monkeys, the Guitar Dudes and the Giggle Sisters with Percussion Power, Mr Piano Personality, and our Twin Presenters Dee and Vee.\".

The concerts run for approximately 40 minutes and include favourite children’s pieces played by a variety of orchestral instruments.

PhotoID:1443 “The children will be able to listen to the instruments as they are identified and join in the songs with the presenters of the show”, he said. The show concludes with “I Call Central Queensland Home”, led by the Giggle Sisters.

The concerts, which commenced at 10.30am on Monday 16 August at a cost of $2 per child, are fully booked.
