Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Neuenfeldt appointed as honorary associate of Queensland Museum 

CQU's Dr Karl Neuenfeldt has been appointed as an honorary associate at the Queensland Museum Southbank Campus for a period of 3 years.

While he does not have responsibility for the care and maintenance of the collections, he can undertake other curatorial duties including research, fieldwork and provision of information and advice to the Museum board, staff and visiting members of the public.

Dr Neuenfeldt is based at CQU Bundaberg and is an Associate Professor in Contemporary Communication attached to the School of Arts and Creative Enterprises.

In other recent news, Dr Neuenfeldt has been awarded a Research Fellowship at the National Film and Sound Archive to produce a book on Torres Strait Islander Culture in Australian Music and Film.

He will take up the Fellowship between October and December this year and will visit Canberra for the project.
