From CQU to Moulin Rouge - student steps out

CQU Bachelor of Performing Arts student Sarah Egan is among only seven Australian dancers to be accepted among this year's intake to the famous Moulin Rouge in Paris.

PhotoID:1469 After auditioning in Brisbane in July, Sarah is ready to leave in October on what will be her first overseas trip.

She has teamed up to travel with a Townsville girl who also attended the auditions, so she will have at least one reminder of Queensland.

Sarah, 18, joined the Bachelor of Performing Arts program in Rockhampton at the start of 2004 after 15 years of training with the Beverley Prange Dance Centre.

Her previous experience also includes roles in local productions of 'Crazy for You', 'Fame' and 'Barnum'.

Once in Paris, Sarah will have four weeks to learn an entire show before signing a contract for a season with the Moulin Rouge.

Sarah notes that a recent ABC TV documentary about Aussie girls at the Moulin Rouge featured plenty of footage of them eating chocolates.

"I'm sure I'll burn up plenty of calories on stage," she said.
