CQUniversity student Bridget Mallory says her recent exchange to Eastern Illinois University was the best six months of her life to date, and she also gets credit towards her home degree.

The Rockhampton-based second year student says the trip highlights included making wonderful friends and being able to experience some stereotypical American college culture by joining a sorority.

"I became very close with another exchange student from Germany and we skype all the time and are already making plans to visit each other," Bridget says.

"I was a member of Delta Zeta, which had 95 girls in it.  I was there for Greek Week, where all the sororities and fraternities compete against each other in events like tug of war, a choir competition, sack races and many more.  It was so much fun!"

Bridget gained a scholarship from CQUniversity to help pay for her flights, dorm accommodation and meals. Her American study experience will count towards her Bachelor of Business (Management)/Bachelor of Accounting degree.

"Another CQUniversity student Aimee Horstman also did the exchange at EIU with me and we have been close friends since primary school.  When our semester was over we met up with three other friends from home and went to New York, all over Canada on a Contiki tour and then Hawaii on our way home."

Bridget is now looking forward to career opportunities in the field of Forensic Accounting.
