Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Relay for Life fundraisers underway 

CQU is hosting Relay for Life at the CQU Rockhampton athletics track on May 15-16.

For those who would like to support the lead-up fundraising efforts, some of the forthcoming events include the following:.

A proposed small business audit procedures seminar, featuring a range of State and Commonwealth audit experts, with all proceeds from the $50 entry fee going towards Relay for Life fundraising. This community event will be held on Saturday, May 8. Details are available from John Bryant at Kennas via 4924 9100.

Squashworld Squassies are having a Squash Fun Day on Saturday April 3. Nominate at the Squash Courts in Campbell Street. More information is available via 4933 1047 or the courts on 4927 6199. For your entry you get three games and there will be sausage sizzle.

The Central Queensland Offroad Club will conduct a car rally around Rockhampton from 3pm on Sunday 28 March 2004, with entrants meeting next to Advanced Phones on Musgrave Street. Participants are being asked to make a $10 donation to the Queensland Cancer Fund. They will then be given a list of clues about destinations. Another fundraiser feature is a Trivia Night at O’Dowd’s Irish Pub in William Street on Sunday, March 28, from 5pm. Cost is $10 per player. Teams of six can be nominated by phoning Jacky Cribb on 4923 2137 or Chelsea Harper on 4930 9800.

Funds from the Relay for Life go towards the Queensland Cancer Fund.
