Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Juice energises Con Carnavale program 

Rockhampton’s Con Carnavale program started this week with sell-out school and public performances (pictured) of the challenging youth drama production called ‘Juice’.

‘Juice’ director Howard Cassidy said the innovative production about friendship, freedom, binge drinking and peer pressure was acted and produced by third-year drama majors from the Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) program.

Con Carnavale will continue at CQU Rockhampton on the evening of Wednesday, June 2, with a free twilight screening by the Acting For Film class and free drama performances from the first and second-year BPA students.

On Friday, June 4, members of the public are invited to a fusion of dance and music event called ‘Collisions’. This event includes items choreographed by the students. It starts at 7.30pm.

PhotoID:1365 The live performances will feature up to 65 performers from the BPA program. Entry is $5 and tickets can be purchased at the door at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre on the night.

BPA coordinator Dr Emma Killion said the exciting production was based on the theme of passion.
