Saddle up for a charitable wine and cheese evening

The Rockhampton Horse Riding for the Disabled Association (RHRDA) is hosting a Wine and Cheese Evening on Friday, September 21, at Rockhampton Customs House, in an effort to raise awareness and much-needed funds.

All are welcome to take part in this event which has already attracted support and involvement from a range of CQU staff and students.

Entertainment will be provided by CQU's Performing Arts students, including a preview item from the coming stage show 'Chicago'.

Raffles will be drawn on the night, with prizes donated by local businesses: Fuji Digital Camera (Thomo's Betta Electrical), Movie Passes (Birch, Carroll & Coyle) and Facials (Beaucare Skin & Body).

Tickets are able to be purchased on the night.

The theme of the night is Sponsor-a-Pony, which will give guests the chance to donate funds towards each horse and their upkeep.

All profits from the fundraiser will go to the care of the horses, including food, maintenance and riding equipment.

Donations from ABC Products (Rocky) Pty Ltd, Rockhampton City Council, Coles, IGA and Woolworths, have generously been received in support for this event.

The RHRDA receives no official funding, and is run entirely by volunteers. It is one of the few RDA centres remaining that do not charge for riding lessons, and relies entirely on the kindness of people donating time, goods and money to help reach the goal of providing interesting and therapeutic horse riding activities for people with a disability.

The Wine and Cheese Evening is a chance for the public to support the RHRDA, an association which brings much joy to those who have a disability.  Cost for the event is $15 per person and tickets can be purchased on the night.

The evening commences at 6pm, with a one lucky guest receiving the lucky door prize, which has been generously donated by Civic Video Rockhampton.

Those interested in supporting the RHRDA can do so though the Sponsor-a-Pony Scheme, volunteering, or donations.

RHRDA is always looking for volunteers to help in all aspects of the association.  Rides takes place every Sunday between 8am and Noon at Boundary Road, Parkhurst.
