Secondary students attend lectures at CQU Mackay

In a first for Central Queensland University Mackay, secondary school students are experiencing a ‘day-in-the-life’ of tertiary education students.
Students from Mackay Christian College, Mercy College, Pioneer, Moranbah and Mackay State High Schools have completed campus-based activities, with seven other schools visiting in the coming months.
CQU Head of Campus Phillip Clift said the first-hand campus experience also allowed students to discuss career paths directly with academic staff. “The secondary students attended lectures alongside CQU students and completed activities which should make them to feel more comfortable about attending university and making decisions about their future,” he said.
Apart from touring the campus, the students accessed library resources and took part in lectures being broadcast live to CQU campuses throughout the State. .
