Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Hundreds flock to city and coast academic events 

Up to 500 overseas, interstate and inter-city visitors will flock to Rockhampton and Yeppoon in the six weeks from mid June to late July for a series of major academic and research events arranged by Central Queensland University.

Around 150 visitors including some from overseas will be among participants for the 3rd International Lifelong Learning Conference at Rydges Capricorn Resort from June 13-16. Around 130 visitors from 16 countries throughout Europe, the USA, Africa, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific are due at CQU Rockhampton’s InSITE joint conference between June 25-28, to share research into ways we communicate, especially in the electronic age, and how to best use this medium to disseminate communication.

About 60 participants from overseas and interstate are expected for the 12th annual International Employment Relations Association Conference at Rydges Capricorn Resort from July 5-8.

Around 50 people from throughout regional Queensland are expected for the 2nd CQ Sports Medicine and Sports Science conference at CQU Rockhampton on July 17-18.

On July 24, around 40 interstate and intercity visitors and one delegate from New Zealand are expected for the 5th Australian Algal Workshop at CQU Rockhampton.

About 200 Korean and Japanese international students will visit CQU Rockhampton’s Language Centre on study tours between mid-June and mid-September.

Around 50 visitors from regional Queensland will visit CQU Rockhampton for social work residential schools in June and July.
