'Fair' career start for Tewantin teachers

There is something special about these four teachers at Tewantin State School as they prepare novelties for stalls at the school’s up-coming Spring Fair (Sept 15).

All have graduated with the new Bachelor of Learning Management degree through Central Queensland University Noosa Hub.

PhotoID:1627 The early career teachers are (pictured left to right) Kate Day, Heidi Jungland, Kim O’Sullivan and Virginia Upton.

From 2005 with the introduction of a Secondary program, the BLM degree will cover all aspects of school education .. Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary.

A stand-out feature of the BLM is the concentration on practical classroom experience. In partnership with Education Queensland, students are guided by specialist, ‘mentor’ teachers, and are involved in the classroom from week 1. The BLM offers an accelerated program, so these four Tewantin teachers completed their degree in just three years, giving them a head start over graduates from other university programs.

The majority of CQU Noosa Hub’s graduates have already taken up teaching positions, many at schools where they had spent time in practical training.
