High school high on agenda at CQU Noosa Hub

Sunshine Coast residents now have more opportunity to prepare as secondary school teachers in a local environment.

Preparing for the fifth intake of students in 2005, Noosa Hub sub-Dean David Lynch has announced that CQU’s Bachelor of Learning Management (BLM) degree will be extended to include secondary studies.

The three-year accelerated Central Queensland University degree will follow the same successful format established with the Early Childhood and Primary paths.

The ready acceptance into the workplace of the first graduates this year has strengthened support for the BLM on the Sunshine Coast.

The major difference, when compared to other education degrees, is the emphasis on practical ‘in class’ training and the streamlining which allows completion of the degree in three years, rather than four.

The unique partnership with Education Queensland not only allows students ‘in-classroom’ experience from week 1, but also provides each student with an individual ‘mentor,’ a teacher specially trained to guide the student.

This practical hands-on training is then linked to theoretical study. The easily accessible academic staff and the informality of the Cooroora Secondary Campus, where the Noosa Hub is located, also contribute to the BLM’s success.
