Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

More Media Scrums for Rocky 

The hell lights, Natasha Ryan and Russell Crowe have made Rockhampton a second home for the national media during April.

A more serious-minded media scrum will descend towards the end of the month to cover Beef 2003.

Meanwhile, the final day of 'Beef' coincides with national media industry leaders arriving in Rockhampton for a public symposium.

Rockhampton people are encouraged to attend the event on Saturday, May 3, in the Old Supreme Court on East Street. Details are available on 4923 2516.

The editor of the Canberra Times, the chair of the Australian Broadcasting Authority, the chief executive of APN Regional Newspapers, the Victorian Privacy Commissioner, and the director of the Communication Law Centre are all due in the Beef Capital.

The visitors will present at a symposium on the challenges and changes facing Australia's regional media.

The symposium will be presented by Central Queensland University's School of Contemporary Communication in conjunction with the Australian Broadcasting Authority, the Communication Law Centre and the regional media.
