Language students enhance Japanese skills in Mackay

Language students from across the Mackay region will have a real taste of overseas culture on Monday (April 19) during a ‘Japan Day' to be hosted at CQUniversity Mackay.

The event will feature Japanese cultural activities (including kendo displays, origami and calligraphy), language activities and discussions of study and career options.

CQUniversity's School of Humanities and Communication lecturer Naohiko Shimizu said he hoped the event would motivate students and help them understand the benefits of learning Japanese and of building this skills set into their future goals.

Students will be working alongside teaches and Japanese nationals to expand their knowledge of Japanese culture.
