Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

This award acknowledges Lisa Bricknell for challenging and inspiring students to examine environmental health issues from both national and global perspectives, using material that is engaging, creative and practical.

Ms Bricknell strives to influence, motivate and inspire students to learn by using innovative problem-based learning activities, based on real life circumstances, that require students to synthesise knowledge and apply skills developed at all stages of their program of study. Lisa has a passion for her discipline and maintains a consistent and enthusiastic dialogue with students, using a variety of modes of communication. She uses a variety of media in creative ways to accommodate a range of individual learning patterns and preferences which provides her students with an authentic learning experience. Lisa has also made a strong contribution to scholarship, through publications addressing current and future trends in university learning and teaching.
