CQU Mackay Library Society to show "Live and Become"

It’s nearly that time of month again! The Library Society at Central Queensland University (CQU) Mackay Campus is gearing up for the showing of another great movie, “Live and Become”, at the Cook Lecture Theatre CQU Mackay Campus at 7.30pm Friday, August 4.

PhotoID:3152 Given four stars by The Movie Show, this epic story traces the life of an Ethiopian boy who is airlifted from a Sudanese refuges camp to Israel in 1984 during Operation Moses. Although he grows up and thrives as an adoptive son of a loving family, he is plagued by two big secrets: he is neither a Jew nor an orphan, just an African boy who survived.

Live and Become highlights a much neglected piece of history that raises the issues of racism and identity and is essentially the story of a boy displaced by poverty and for that alone, it is well worth watching.

Library Society membership is $20 for the year and entry to the film for members is $5 and $8 for non-members. A light supper will be served following the film.
