Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU marks a decade of graduations in Singapore 

Central Queensland University will this weekend (Saturday, November 5, from 2pm, Hotel Intercontinental, 80 Middle Road) reach the milestone of its 10th graduation ceremony in Singapore.

The University’s strong partnership with Hartford Institute in Singapore currently offers six popular undergraduate and postgraduate programs to Singaporean and international students.

Those attending will include CQU’s Chancellor Rennie Fritschy, Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard, the Deans of Informatics and Communication and International Programs and Raffles Education Corp’s Chairman and CEO, Professor Chew Hua Seng.

The ceremony will cater for 91 graduates from the faculties of Arts, Health & Sciences; Business & Law; Informatics & Communication and Engineering & Physical Systems.

Guest speaker Mr Gay Chee Cheong is the Deputy Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of 2G Capital Pte Ltd, a private equity investment company. He has previously held positions as Group Executive Director of JIT Holdings Limited and Managing Director to the various JIT companies in Singapore, China and Europe. Mr Cheong is a director of several listed companies in Singapore including Excelpoint Technology Limited, Hyflux Limited and Raffles Education Corporation. In 1975, he was awarded the Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Training Award (Graduating).

The closing address on behalf of graduates will be delivered by Lim Soon Wang Andrew (MBA-MktMgt).
