Uni announces print services provider

CQUniversity has now concluded the formal evaluation of offers from external organisations to provide printing, custom distribution and inventory control of learning and teaching materials, in accordance with the requirements of the Queensland State Purchasing Policy.

Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard has announced that the University has entered into a formal agreement with Salmat Ltd for the provision of print services.

Salmat Ltd is an Australian-owned company, which has a national presence, delivering more than 60% of all business to consumer communications in Australia. It is one of the largest purchasers of Australia Post services in Australia.

Central to the transition will be the University's newly-formed Print Management Unit, which will report to Commercial Operations Manager Paul Lancaster.

An important next step is to comprehensively plan for the smooth transition of critical print materials and publications such as the despatch of remaining Term 2 course materials, course examinations and Term 3 study materials.

Mr Lancaster along with Salmat Ltd representatives will be conducting a series of focus groups with key stakeholder representatives throughout the remainder of this week to commence planning critical transition requirements.

"This decision, which resulted from 10 months of rigorous evaluation and open and transparent consultation with staff and staff representatives has been made as part of the large scale transformation of this University to ensure that our education and support services efficiently and effectively meet the changing needs of our students," Professor Rickard said.

"I would like to express my appreciation to the staff involved, for their contributions and professionalism throughout this period.

"The University remains committed to ensuring that the staff affected by this decision are supported during the transition period and Human Resources Division representatives will continue to liaise with those affected."

Mr Lancaster will focus on finalising the transition arrangements with key stakeholders as soon as possible and progress will be reported.
