Sydney Orientation includes tours and guests

The new student Orientation program was held last week at the CQU Sydney International Campus for undergraduate students.

A full day's program was held, commencing with talks from staff and guests.

The Campus Director, Barbara Abou-Lehaf, welcomed the students to the campus. She encouraged them to study hard and looked forward to seeing them achieve their goals to graduate.

Dr Stephen Howlett, Associate Director Academic, spoke to the students about the expectations of the University and how their enrolment at SIC may be a huge change for many of the students who have come from a different educational background.

Dr Howlett also encouraged students to "recognise the great opportunity that SIC life provides for practising the English language skills that will be so important to them in the global workforce that is their future".

Other guest speakers were Sara Thompson, from the NSW Police Department, and Katrina Horst and Tom Slack from CPA Australia. Students were treated to a light lunch and then shown the sights of Sydney.

The students were treated to a bus tour that showed them many of the prominent Sydney tourist attractions such as Bondi Beach, The Rocks, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, Botanical Gardens, Mrs Macquarie's Chair, NSW Art Gallery and Parliament House.

Students completed their Orientation at CQU Sydney International Campus, led by volunteer students and staff on a campus tour.

Suzana Vicentijevic, Manager of TECC (Training, Employment and Career Coaching), presented all the students with certificates of participation.

Suzana stated: "The students had a great time learning about their new campus and making a valuable contribution to their own knowledge. It's great to see students actively participating in campus activities".
