CQU and QMAG sign on for science internship program
Published on 02 October, 2006
Queensland Magnesia is the first industry partner to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Central Queensland University to mark the beginning of the CQU Science Internship Program.
Professor Elizabeth Taylor, Executive Dean for the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Health, and John Malloy, General Manager for QMAG, have signed an agreement which will give students the opportunity to gain valuable work-integrated learning experiences by participating in a structured employment arrangement.
The CQU Internship Program partners students and industry for almost 12 months of paid work experience throughout a 3-year science degree. The initiative ensures that students will graduate with the skills needed by employers.
“By incorporating contextual learning during their degree, CQU’s Internship Program will produce ‘work ready’ graduates. With the acute shortages of skilled staff that employers are experiencing, this is a valuable move for graduates and industry,” Professor Elizabeth Taylor said.
QMAG will conduct a presentation for all CQU science students this Wednesday, October 4, from 10am in Building 6/G.03 at Rockhampton Campus.
