Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Senator Mason tours Mackay campus 

CQUniversity Mackay welcomed Senator Brett Mason, who scheduled a campus visit as part of his regional tour of Queensland recently.

Mr Mason is the Shadow Minister for Universities and Research and a Liberal National Party Senator for Queensland.

The senator met with CQUniversity's Pro Vice-Chancellor (Community & Engagement) & Head of Campus, Professor Pierre Viljoen who conducted a campus tour and shared plans for future development on campus, including a sporting precinct and $16.6 million engineering precinct.

Mr Mason was impressed with CQUniversity Mackay's facilities, particularly the CQ Conservatorium of Music, as well as the Chiropractic, Nursing and Midwifery, and Medical Imaging and Sonography laboratories.
