Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

'Mo' Award winner works with conservatorium students 

The 'Mo' Awards Male Musical Theatre Performer of the Year, Wayne Scott Kermond, has left the watery stage of 'Singing in the Rain' to visit the dry Rockhampton Campus.

PhotoID:233 He spent two days working with Bachelor of Performing Arts degree students, helping prepare for their music theatre extravaganza in October.

Wayne was the only 'Singing in the Rain' cast member to be nomintaed for the 'Mo' Awards, the Helpmann Awards and the Green Room Awards this year.

His role as an industry mentor is much appreciated by the students, as his career has spanned music theatre (West Side Story, Barnum, Chicago and A Chorus Line), television (A Country Practice, Blue Heelers and mini-series including The Heroes and Kings in Grass Castles) and the movie The Shiralee with Bryan Brown.
