Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQUni Noosa Staff member elected Vice President of International Research Association 

The General Assembly of the International Association for Research on Textbooks and Educational Media (IARTEM) has re- elected Dr. Mike Horsley, from the School of Learning and Innovation at Noosa, as its Vice President for the next two years.

 IARTEM is a major international research grouping in this research area. It is based in Norway and has over 160 active researcher members from 35 countries.

IARTEM recently held its 10th International Conference in Santiago De Compostela, Spain September 3rd to 5th. Dr. Horsley moderated workshop 3 on the Use of textbooks and educational media in educational settings; and was elected by the General Assembly as an editor of the IARTEM conference volume.  

Dr. Horsley presented two papers  a. Australia and Finland: a comparison of textbooks and teaching and learning materials; and b. Homework, learning, textbooks, educational media and online and networked homework support.

Kathy Bauer, also from the School of Learning and Innovation, Noosa presented a paper on Textbooks and teaching resources: reports from the early childhood classroom.
