'Sharkman' director of gangster film hunting for cast and crew

The director of a new gangster movie, titled - The Sharkmen - is keen to source his cast and crew from the Rockhampton region.

Active film-maker Jason 'Sharkman' Gibson believes there is plenty of talent among local students and residents to support his feature-length project.

This feature-length film is being produced under the banner of GibsonStyle Productions, with funding provided by CQU's Regional Centre of the Arts.  Jason will use his own professional high definition camera and editing equipment for the film.

Anyone interested in being part of Jason's cast or crew can contact him via jason@thegibsonstyle.com . Or keep an eye out on The Sharkmen  website via  www.thegibsonstyle.com/Sharkmen/sharkmen.html  for details of auditions.

Jason has already shown he has the flair for film.

His short film False Reflections won the 2007 Rocky Fringe Festival and he gained a Highly Commended Certificate in 2006 for The Takers.  He has already produced a test/teaser version of The Sharkmen,  which was well received by local audiences.  His short film projects screened after invitation, at the Nimbin Film Festival last year. Jason has also made a feature length surfing mockumentary called Blue Prints and an educational video called Active Lifestyle.

As if planning for a feature film is not enough, Jason has begun work on a low-budget sci-fi comedy film called The Farnborough Stories that incorporates  a Special Effects (SFX) DVD to showcase his post-production skills.  This project will be continued after the completion of the The Sharkmen.

He has also been accepted for short courses with the Australian Film and Television Radio School (AFTRS) and the National Institute for Dramatic Arts (NIDA) and is a Member of the Australian Writers' Guild.

Jason also gained experience working on several Channel V Music Bus's and was also a semi-finalist in the Channel V Snapper competition.

Apart from his creative skills, Jason can draw on his military background (he's a Royal Military College - Duntroon graduate who currently works as an Infantry Platoon commander with the Army Reserve) and his promotional skills (he's currently in his final term of a Business/Marketing degree at CQU).

"This film will help put Rockhampton on the map as a film location, boost the local creative community and provide experience and hands-on project work for local university students across a range of disciplines," Jason said.

He aims to submit the completed film to national and international festivals and also screen it at several CQU campuses.
