About 60 students from throughout Central Queensland attended the Siemens Science Experience program at CQU Rockhampton last week.
Students came from Rockhampton, Gladstone, Moura, Mt Morgan, Middlemount, Biloela, Yeppoon and Bundaberg for the three-day program.
The program is designed for Year 9 students and includes hands-on science activities held in CQU university laboratories and lecture theatres The program aims to provide those who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating science activities under the guidance of scientists.
Participants performed experiments in the university laboratories, met and heard university lecturers in the university lecture theatres, and walked around and experienced what it is like to be on a university campus. The program provided information about further studies in science, technology and engineering. It highlighted the wide range of careers that allow students to pursue their interest and abilities in the sciences.
