The dance performance of 'Urban Wonderland' included participation by more than 20 young dancers from Emerald. The young participants were coached by the professional dancers and spent many hours rehearsing in the days leading up to the ceremony.

This opportunity was made possible by funding from the Regional Centre of the Arts (RCotA), established by CQUniversity.

Co-founders of Raw Dance, Andrew Fee and Jess Chambers said, "Some of the dancers here tonight are amongst the most talented students we have worked with in the entire country."

CQUniversity Campus Coordinator, Mrs Gai Sypher said the performance of 'Urban Wonderland' was an entertaining and educational insight into the development of tap, hip hop and break dancing.

"Everyone was on the edge of their seats with the acts of outstanding precision, interaction and spectacular displays of dancing prowess," she said.

Special guests at the Awards Ceremony included Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Angela Delves, Deputy CEO of Central Highlands Regional Council George Frangos and CHRC councillors Gail Nixon and Paddy Schwarz.

"These Academic Awards would not be possible without the valued support of our prize and scholarship donors, to whom we are extremely grateful," Mrs Sypher said.
