Interested individuals and organisations can help shape the next survey of Central Queenslanders' opinions and lifestyles.
Central Queensland University's Centre for Social Science Research is set to undertake the 7th annual Central Queensland Social Survey (CQSS) from Wednesday, October 19, for approximately four weeks.
The computer-assisted telephone survey (CATI) was initiated by CQU’s Professor Kerry Mummery in 1999 and is conducted by the Population Research Laboratory at CQU in Rockhampton.
The cost-sharing participation feature of the survey gives individuals and agencies the opportunity to collect high quality data from a sizable Central Queensland sample at a far lower cost than an independent survey.
The CQSS serves the research needs of both university researchers and community organisations. Community groups and government agencies can use the CQSS as a reliable, credible, and relatively low-cost data collection vehicle.
The unique survey targets between 1200 and 1500 randomly-selected households in Central Queensland, an area which extends north to Mackay, south to Bundaberg and west to the Northern Territory border.
The CQSS seeks respondents’ attitudes towards issues such as physical activity, quality of life, hazard awareness and violence against animals.
Interested academic researchers, government departments and non-profit organisations as well as researchers from the private sector should contact Lindsay Greer on (07) 4930 6335 or via l.greer@cqu.edu.au or Yvonne Holbeck on (07) 4930 6401 or via y.holbeck@cqu.edu.au for further details.
