Budding Mackay science students on the rocky road

Last week, CQU Mackay students studying Biomedical Science, Environmental Science and Biology took a bus trip to CQU Rockhampton campus, accompanied by lecturer Delma Clifton.

PhotoID:3045 The purpose of the trip was for the students to meet some of their lecturers face to face, view the facilities and labs and visit Capricornia College, where many of the students will take up residence next year as they commence the second year of their studies.

“The trip was great”, said one student. “We met some ex-Mackay students who have settled in and are really enjoying their time in Rocky".

According to CQU Mackay student Arlo Turner, “They have awesome labs and some great new equipment”.

The day trip included lunch, a lecture, a tour of the labs and facilities and a visit to the local museum. The students also met staff members and found out about some of the important research being conducted at the Rockhampton campus.

According to lecturer Delma Clifton, “The day was very enjoyable, but for the flat tyre which the bus driver didn’t know how to change. In the end he flagged down a truckie who changed the tyre for him, and we continued on our way".
