Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It celebrates the beginning of a new year by the lunar calendar.
On Friday February 12, as the summer term drew to a close with final exams, CQUniversity Melbourne celebrated the coming of the Year of the Tiger 2010.

The campus had a display of festive decorations and information flyers and symbolic sweets were distributed. The highlight of the day was a performance of the traditional Lion Dance by the Chinese Youth Society of Melbourne.
It was a celebration that included not only our Chinese students, but also students from other nationalities. Onlookers from the Melbourne CBD also became keen spectators of this colourful tradition.
