Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Rockhampton hosts Queensland's Chief Scientist 

CQU Rockhampton and the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education has hosted Queensland's Chief Scientist Professor Peter Andrews (on Monday, July 23).

The visitor addressed senior secondary science teachers and senior science students from 11am-12.30pm at Building 32/1.28.

Professor Andrews is co-director of the Institute of Molecular Bioscience (IMB), which is a Smart State initiative established to attract scientists and funding to grow Queensland's science industries.

During his presentation, he outlined how 21st Century new ideas and innovations in science will impact on our lifestyles in the future.

The visitor also took part in a lunch with senior CQU staff at the Capricornia College Senior Common Room and attended a research/industry meeting at the CQU Council Room (Former District Court) in East Street in the afternoon.
