Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Community prizes awarded 

30 Central Queensland University education students from Rockhampton, Gladstone and throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and even Sweden have been recognised with $5000 worth of awards and prizes provided by the community for their achievements in Education, Humanities and the Arts.

Community prizes awarded included the Australian Literacy Educators Association Prize, the Catholic Education (Diocese of Rockhampton) Prize, the Iwasaki Resort Scholarship; the Leslie G Duthie Memorial Tourism and Leisure Studies Prize, The Morning Bulletin Prize, the Royal Geographical Society of Queensland Inc Prize, the WIN Television Queensland Prize in Broadcasting Journalism and many more.

The prize ceremony took place on Friday (June 6).
