CQU's STEPS (Steps for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies) program has opened up career horizons for Rockhampton's Michael Amedee.
Michael recently spoke to 3 visiting Queensland Cabinet Ministers about his experiences, during the launch of CQU's Managing the Student Journey program.
He said that he started his career working as a sales rep and in the hospitality industry before completing STEPS in 1996.
Mr Amedee then had the confidence to tackle a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) program and graduated at the end of 2000.
He has worked at Tannum Sands and Yeppoon and is now based at North Rockhampton State High School.
He has now developed his confidence to the point where he is considering working in China or the Philippines next year.
