Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

10 000 Steps charity bowls a success 

More than 70 would-be lawn bowlers attended the Relay for Life Bowls Night at the Athelstane Bowls Club recently.

This social event was organised by the staff at 10,000 Steps project and students of the CQU School of Health & Human Performance to assist in fundraising for the Queensland Cancer Fund Relay for Life.

Participants enjoyed the evening with lawn bowls, a barbeque, complimentary drinks and a great atmosphere, raising a total of $730.

The 10,000 Steps/Health & Human Performance Relay for Life Team would like to thank the Athelstane Bowls club for their hospitality and the following local businesses for their donations of prizes and food which contributed towards making the event successful: 7 Berserker Tavern.
