Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Vince hands over leather-bound history 

Retiring State MP the Hon. Vince Lester has handed over his collection of leather-bound Parliamentary Hansards to the CQU Library.

PhotoID:1352 Mr Lester is retiring after 29 years in Parliament. He was the longest serving Member in the 50th Parliament.

He was Minister for Police and Minister for Employment, Training and Industrial Affairs 25 September 1989 - 7 December 1989. Minister for Employment, Training and Industrial Affairs 9 December 1987 - 25 September 1989; Minister for Employment and Industrial Affairs 7 November 1983 - 1 December 1987; Minister for Employment and Labour Relations 19 August - 7 November 1983.

Mr Lester was Member for Belyando (1974-1977), Member for Peak Downs (1977-1992) and Member for Keppel (1992-2004).
