Conservation group brings insect ecologist to CQUni Mackay

The Mackay Conservation Group will bring insect ecologist Professor Roger Kitching to CQUniversity Mackay this Friday, March 15 from 7pm to speak about altitudes, insects and climate change.

Professor Kitching is working at Mt Dalrymple, Eungella, with a team of young scientists who are collecting specimens from the mountain as part of a project to determine the effects of climate change.

The study, which has been conducted along rainforest gradients in Queensland and in south-western China, shows that there have been dramatic changes in insect communities.

Mackay community members are invited to attend the free event, where a light supper will be provided.

Please RSVP to Ros at the Mackay Conservation Group on 49530808 or email mcgmail@bigpond.com.
