Bananas back In town

'Bananas in Pyjamas' - arguably the most popular children's act in the country - will be back again this year at the CQ Multicultural Fair.

The Bananas appearance is part of ABC Capricornia's contribution to the Fair which is jointly presented by ABC Capricornia and Central Queensland University.

PhotoID:1014 The popular characters will make two stage appearances at 12.25 and 2.50 pm in a brand new show which will include some on-stage costume changes.

The Bananas have been a huge hit with their entertaining antics when they've appeared at previous Fairs, attracting many thousands of youngsters and their families. Affectionately known as B1 and B2, their popularity never seems to wane with each succeeding generation of young children captivated by their on-stage antics.

Children adore the Bananas because they love the brightly coloured fantasy world they live in, and every episode of their TV show has been made to be a positive fun experience.

While the characters came to prominence through the ABC's Play School program, their origins date back to a poem written by Carey Blyton, the nephew of Enid Blyton.

It was then turned into a song by 'ABC for Kids' artist Mike Jackson which became such a huge hit that animation to accompany it was produced and 'Bananas in Pyjamas' as we know them, were born.
