There was scientific magic and experiments galore as 160 local primary school children attended CQU Bundaberg's inaugural Brainwaves Festival.
Event coordinator and CQU Bundaberg science lecturer Desirae Kirby said students from Burnett Heads, Elliot Heads and Branyan Road State schools left the campus with extra scientific knowledge. “National Science Week is an opportunity to showcase science. The day was fantastic, to see so many kids having such a great time reflects just how much fun science really is, the kids had a wonderful time and participated in all the presentations,” Ms Kirby said.
Some of the topics students learned about on the day included biology, physics, plasma, environmental science, the respiratory system, marine biology and information technology.
Ms Kirby said she hoped that by having professional scientists presenting the activities the students had been encouraged to consider science as a career.
