Rocky gets a taste of international sport

Rockhampton will get a taste of international sport from August 7-9 as international students descend on the Beef Capital for the annual Chancellor's Challenge Cup hosted by CQUniversity.
The players will represent CQUniversity campuses in Melbourne, Sydney, the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Rockhampton, in competitions for cricket, futsal soccer, volleyball and table tennis.
Organiser Robyn Bailey says CQUniversity started this spirited competition in 2008 to show some of the southern-based students a little of the 'home' campus.
"In 2009 we converged on the Gold Coast and in 2010 on Melbourne, however it has come back to Rockhampton for 2011 and 2012," she said.
"It's a worthwhile event seeing the camaraderie that it develops with the students and staff who participate."
Staff, students and members of the public are welcome to watch any of the competition games on the campus ovals and in the community sports centre. Around140 players and officials are scheduled to take part.
