Financial planning folk gather in Rocky and Mackay
Published on 13 August, 2010
Financial planners and finance academics gathered at CQUniversity's Rockhampton and Mackay campuses on August 13 to discuss likely developments in the industry.
A free seminar at both venues - with videoconference links also including the Campbelltown and Parramatta campuses of the University of Western Sydney - examined the possibility that recent changes at regulatory level and inquiry recommendations (e.g. Ripoll inquiry, parliamentary joint committee on corporations and financial services) will influence how the profession operates.
This seminar provided an opportunity for all stakeholders to better understand these changes and the future direction the profession is expected to take.
Convenor/presenter Dr Rakesh Gupta said seminar participants were impressed by the excellent quality of presenters and expressed their appreciation of the University's initiative to engage with the profession.
"Discussions were meaningful and are expected to benefit the profession and academia," he said.
Dr Gupta indicated this is only the beginning of the dialogue and hopes to continue hosting these seminars.
