Operatic 'boy band' has campus links

Formidable, Mackay's very own operatic boy-band will be giving its first full-length concert at the end of May.
The creation of Formidable is made up of students, graduates and staff of CQUniversity.

Brett O'Neill and Sam Hanson are currently enrolled in third year in the Bachelor of Theatre program. Paul Tabone is a recent graduate of the above program and Neil Young and Kris Brennan have vocal lessons from music lecturer Garrick Jones. Kim Kirkman and Judith Brown (piano) are also on staff at CQUniversity.
The concert will also act as the launch of the group's debut CD, Fully-Formed.
Formidable performs a wide variety of music.
"We love to sing popular classical repertoire and then add in a few twists," says Music Director, Kim Kirkman.
"You can expect to hear Nessun dorma and then suddenly the guys will bust into Devil went down to Georgia."
"It's a fun show sung by some fantastic voices".
The Man Up concert is from 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday (May 29-30), at the Conservatorium Theatre at CQUniversity Mackay Campus.

There are also plans for the group to perform in the Rockhampton/Yeppoon region in late June or early July this year.
